The Marine Stadium has been named to the World Monuments Fund 2010 Watch List along with other sites such as Macchu Picchu and the Center Cities of Buenos Aires and Old Jerusalem.

Floating Stage Awards Ceremony

This brief video shows the Floating Stage Design Contest Awards Ceremony, which was held on May 2, 2011. 175 people attended the event and all 90 entries were displayed. The evening featured presentations by Hilario Candela, architect of the Marine Stadium, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, keynote spaeker Frank E. Sanchis III, DIrector of U.S. Programs for the World Monuments Fund, and Joachim Perez, Executive Director of DawnTown, the group that administered the contest. It was a terrific evening!

Football in Miami and Beyond, Dec. 3, 2010
Football in Miami and Beyond is a blog devoted to bringing professional soccer to Miami. Recently, we were contacted by the editor inquiring whether or not the Marine Stadium could be converted to a soccer stadium. We responded by providing a picture of a floating soccer field-in Singapore. The story was highlighted in this blog-and then hit other sports and soccer blogs nationwide.

On July 22, the City of Miami celebrated its 114 birthday party. The Miami Downtown Partnership hosted a party for the City at American Airlines Waterfront Arena.

Twelve charities were named beneficiaries of the event-including Friends of Marine Stadium.

Pamela D'Amelio and Marta-Beth Nordstorm of "It's Your Red Carpet TV" documented the event for us. This video includes intreviews with Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, former Miami Heat player Tim Hardaway, and supporters of Friends of Marine Stadium.

Greater Miami CHamber of Commerce Visits the Marine Stadium

On July 11, the Graeter Miami Chamber of Commerce visited the Miami Marine Stadium. The timing was terrific-earler that afternoon, the Miami City Commission had approved the Marine Stadium site plan, allowing the project to move forward. This short video, which includes interviews with Hilario Candela, Jorge Hernandez, Rosemary Ravinal and SPencer Crowley, feels more like a celebration.
