Marine Stadium Named to World Monuments Fund 2010 Watch List
The Marine Stadium has been named to the World Monuments Fund 2010 Watch List along with other sites such as Macchu Picchu and the Center Cities of Buenos Aires and Old Jerusalem.

Typeface Inspired By Miami Marine Stadium

Anjelica Baini, a student at the New World School of the Arts, created a typeface inspired by the Marine Stadium. This is one of the projects selected by Adobe Systems as outstanding. This short video beautifully describes Anjelica's creative process.

American Express Foundation Blog, November 4,2013

The American Express Foundation has generously provided us with $80,000, to be used for a study of the Marine Stadium seaside pilings. This work must be done before any restoration work can proceed. Tim McClimon, President of the American Express Foundation, recently came to Miami and particpated in our panel "The Future of Miami Marine Stadium. He also visited the Marine Stadium. Attached is a link to his blog post on his visit to Miami.

October 9, 2013 Update

This is newsletter #67! Introduction to the exhibit at the Coral Gables Museum, which opens October 17. A story about the successful "Never Quit Challenge" a race to benefit charities benefitting veterans and their families which held its first stop at the Miami Marine Stadium. the Warriors were greated by Gloria Estefan and Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado.

 

Finally, a great story by Phil Kunz, who attended the first boat race at the Marine Stadium. A flag that Phil retrieved on one of his visits to the Stadium is  part of the memoribilia in the exhibit.

September, 2013 Update

Tourism Cares, a not for profit organization funded by the travel industry that seeks to encourage historic preservation, agrees to partner with Friends of Miami Marine Stadium. Tourism Cares will organize a volunteer day on May 30, 2013 where 600 tourism professionals from around the United States will come to Miami to prepare the Stadium for restoration. The organization will also assist with special internship volunteer opportunities.

 

The Marine Stadium Basin will be the first stop of the Never Quit Challenge, a land and sea event designed to raise money for US Veterans and their families.

 

With the approval of the Marine Stadium site plan by the MIami City Commission on July 11, there continues to be a lot of interest and activity.

Miami Parrothead Benefit for the Marine Stadium

The Miami Parrothead Club (fan club of Jimmy Buffett) has been a long time supporter of our effort to save and restore the Marine Stadium. On August 17,they hosted a fundraiser for us on the 28th Anniversary of Jimmy Buffett's famed 1985 concert at the Stadium. This article describes the fun!
